How I Found CrossFit:My first introduction to CrossFit was by a friend who recently joined the Air Force. It was a very eye opening experience that immediately changed my outlook on exercise/fitness forever. As it turns out “Fran” was my first WOD (workout of the day), 21-15-9 thrusters and pull-ups. Considering myself a pretty “fit” person at the time, I was humbled quickly and realized that there was a whole other world out there that I needed to learn more about.
Favorite WOD: DT (Five rounds of:155 pound Deadlift, 12 reps, 155 pound Hang power clean, 9 reps, 155 pound Push jerk, 6 reps) or anything HEAVY!
Least Favorite WOD: Helen (3 Rounds: 400 meter run, 21 Kettlebell swings at 24K, 12 Pull-ups)
Best Part of CrossFit: CrossFit is always changing and there are always new challenges.
About me: As a child, teen, and young adult I participated in almost any sport you can imagine. However my true passion lied in baseball and football. After high school I chose to play collegiate baseball at Stetson University. After college I had the opportunity to play in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system as well as participating in the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece.
Looking back on what I was always told and taught was the right way to train I can only say one thing… What was I thinking??? If I had only come across CrossFit 10-15 years earlier… Who knows???
Since 2005 I have been personal training and involved in different areas of the fitness industry. I have seen many people wander around aimlessly looking for something; better health, weight loss, a sense of community just to find the same disappointment. “Routine is the enemy.” CrossFit Carbon is an opportunity for me to share my knowledge, experience and passion for fitness with others.

How I Found CrossFit:A friend of mine told me about CrossFit in the fall of 2009; it took a few months for me to build up the courage to try it, but it has been the best decision that I ever made. Always thinking that I had the endurance to go forever, I was surprised when a six-minute workout would have me feeling like I needed to collapse to the floor and beg for water!
I started CrossFit in December of 2009. I found that I loved the diversity of the workouts and the community aspect of the life style. In May of 2010 & 2011 I was able to be apart of the CrossFit Affiliate Regional team. I would love to be able to bring an Affiliate Team to the CrossFit Games!
Favorite WOD: Helen (3 Rounds: 400 meter run, 21 Kettlebell swings at 16K, 12 Pull-ups)
Least Favorite WOD: anything HEAVY, but currently Grace (30 Clean and Jerks at 40Kg)
Best Part of CrossFit: Knowing that someone will always cheer for you, support you and encourage you to do your best!
About Me:In high school and college I was a cross-country runner and after finishing college I started experimenting with marathons and triathlons. One day, I would still like to qualify for the Boston Marathon but my crazy days of running are on hold for now. I am EXTREMELY excited to be coaching CrossFit and enjoy working with people of all levels and abilities.
Outside of CrossFit Carbon I was a high school science teacher and special education case manager. I worked in the educational field for eight years; I have B.A. in Education, M.S. in Special Education and a M.S. in Administration and Leadership. I enjoying coming to work with my husband everyday! We LOVE what we do and wouldn’t change it for anything!

How I Found CrossFit: My brother was the one that actually got me into CrossFit. He was trying for months to get me to try a class and then finally for my birthday his present to me was an intro to CrossFit class. It was probably was one of the best presents because it got me out of the traditional routine at the “globo-gym.”! Since then I have never looked back.
Favorite WOD: ANYTHING HEAVY!!! Isabel (30 Snatches at 40 kg)
Least Favorite WOD: Karen (150 wall ball shots)
Best Part of CrossFit: The best part is the environment! It’s a competitive atmosphere but everyone still encourages each other.
About me: I grew up playing a variety of competitive sports. I played junior college softball during my freshman year at McHenry County College before transferring to Eastern Illinois University. At EIU, I played on the first NCAA Women’s Rugby team. During my rugby career I had to overcome a few season ending injuries. I have had two ACL reconstruction surgeries and never thought I would be doing the things that I am doing now. I owe that all to CrossFit because it has allowed me to gain back my flexibility and strength. I am currently in the best shape of my life. From my experience I have learned not to allow injuries to hold you back from your true potential. I also recently started training for Olympic lifting competitions and am a member of the Windy City Weightlifting Club.
Outside of Carbon I am a High School Physical Education Teacher and Head Varsity softball coach. Joining the CrossFit Carbon team will give me the opportunity to help others of all fitness levels to push themselves past their limits.

How I found CrossFit: Working out in a gym for years, I became frustrated with the amount of time it was taking me to get a complete workout. How many crunches do I need to complete before I feel anything? 300? I began my search for a change and found CrossFit and trainer Pete Rasmusen. I wish that I had found CrossFit sooner and quickly realized that it was my new mission. Pete and I became great friends and now partners in CrossFit Carbon.
Favorite WOD: Fight Gone Bad
Least Favorite WOD: anything with running or double-unders
Best part of CrossFit: Definitely the people in the CrossFit community and the camaraderie.
About me: I am a retired firefighter/ paramedic and always felt that I was a fit individual. I worked out at our makeshift gym in the firehouse for many years and belonged to several gyms during my career. I was put on permanent disability pension in 1996 due to repetitive injuries. Although I have never completely regained my mobility, I continue to keep working out and trying to maintain my youth. My new favorite words are 3-2-1 Go!!
