The most important part is coaching. Having a knowledgeable coach with you during your WOD will reduce the risk of injury, improve your fitness faster, and fix bad biomechanics. You can’t see yourself while you train. This leads to bad form and bad habits. These problems will actually be harder to correct in the future.
You are missing the warm-up, cool down, and fun time. We focus on warm-up, skills, and cool-down daily. We also work a lot on mobility and stretching for injury prevention.
A big part of Carbon is community, family, and camaraderie. Having a good base of positive people around you is the best environment to train in. Not only will you be pushed harder because of the support from everyone, but you will have a great time doing it. Take a look at your chain gym. When you walk in, you will see a bunch of people wearing headphones. Everyone is secluded and not interacting with anyone else. This leads to boring workouts that have no intensity (which means ineffective) and eventually pushes people to quit exercising. It is a sad sight to see. If you go to any class at Carbon, you will see that the energy is high, everyone is encouraging, and everyone really cares about each other.
The programs at Carbon are difficult to compare to other fitness programs. We offer a variety of classes and options as well as some of the best trainers that the area has to offer. The reality is with the quality of instruction you get from our trainers; it is personal training at a fraction of the cost.
Have no fear, 90% of the people at our gym cannot either! The programs are made to challenge an experienced athlete. But that same program is scaled to YOUR skill and fitness level. When you start, you will be doing a modified version of the class workout. We change the load (weights), repetitions, rounds, and distances to fit your abilities. Modifying the workouts will prevent you from over exerting yourself and prevent overwhelming soreness.
Yes, this is absolutely what we strongly believe in. More and more research shows that shorter duration/higher intensity workouts yield higher benefits/results. Basically, it just boils down to hard work. But the truth is, the longer the effort the lower our intensity. If you run 10 miles your intensity (power output) will be lower than if you run multiple 400-meter sprints. At Carbon, our workouts do go beyond 30 min on occasion, but the majority of our workouts are shorter in duration. If you have a shorter workout, you can work harder (higher intensity) by nature which elicits a greater adaptive response, especially combined with the movements we do. No matter who you are or what workouts you do, without hard work, you will not receive results, which is why we encourage you to work to the limits of your physiological and psychological tolerances.
Please consult your doctor before engaging in any exercise routine while pregnant. With your doctor’s approval, functional fitness training can be a safe and fun way to move your body while pregnant. Please let our coaches know that you are pregnant before any class that you take.
We get that question all the time and answer is NO! Remember that the workouts are scaled to your current fitness level. We will take care of progressing you through more challenging options as you get fitter. As we like to say, the best way to start is to start!
